Maxus names new leaders for strategy and digital

Mark Egan and Brian Leder Take Over Top Spots
— Maxus North America, the award-winning media services agency, today announced two senior executive appointments: a Chief Strategy Officer and a Digital Director.
Mark Egan, a media agency veteran with extensive experience in agency marketing and management as well as new business development was named Chief Strategy Officer, a new position. At the same time Brian Leder, whose background includes broad experience in digital strategy and innovation, was named Digital Director.
The announcement was made by Maxus North America CEO Louis Jones, who said both appointments are effective immediately.
“This is an important day for Maxus North America,” Jones said in making the announcement. “We’re fortunate to have two seasoned professionals like Mark and Brian filling these crucial roles for our agency, and I’m confident that each of them will soon make significant contributions to Maxus.”
Maxus is one of four global WPP media and marketing agency networks within GroupM, along with MEC, MediaCom, and Mindshare.
In his new role, Egan will report to Jones and will be responsible for guiding and managing growing agency disciplines including communications planning, data management, content development, loyalty programs, multicultural efforts and digital strategy and implementation.
Egan joins Maxus from Havas Digital, where he served as the Global Head of New Business and Network Development. In that role he ran global pitches, managed global discipline workgroups, and managed the network’s marketing activities. He also brings extensive experience in the digital arena to his new post, having worked at Organic in San Francisco, one of the first major digital agencies, as a media supervisor in from 1999 to 2000 where e-commerce and seamless online experiences were the agency’s specialty.
In his role as Digital Director, Leder will be responsible all the agency’s digital activities, including supporting and directing digital efforts with client leads, improving and coordinating search marketing efforts, increasing Maxus’ expertise in digital specialties and directing the agency’s digital trading initiative. He will also serve as a key integration point with for digital initiatives with other GroupM units.
Leder, who will report to Egan, joins Maxus with a wide range of global and category experience on both the publisher and agency sides of the business. He most recently worked as Global Digital Director at MediaVest, where he led the development of digital strategy and innovation for such clients as Procter & Gamble, Bristol-Myers Squibb and Cox Communications across an integrated agency team. Previously he worked at Omnicom Media Group, where he developed integrated online solutions leveraging mobile, gaming, social media and behavioral targeting for Quaker/PepsiCo at OMD, and spent six years at Yahoo! pioneering innovative digital advertising solutions across online video, search and local.
