Jennifer Wayman

Agency Veteran to Lead and Expand the Practice’s Footprint in the US

WASHINGTON, DC — Ogilvy Public Relations (Ogilvy PR), an integrated global communications firm, today announced that Jennifer Wayman, MHS, Ogilvy Washington’s Executive Vice President and Group Director, Social Marketing, has been promoted to Managing Director, US Social Marketing effective January 1, 2014.

In her new role, Wayman will work with Robert Mathias, Ogilvy PR’s North American CEO, to grow the agency’s social marketing expertise across the agency’s US offices and apply best practices of behavior change to new and existing clients.

“Jennifer, a 20+ year Ogilvy veteran, is the natural leader for our US Social Marketing Practice,” said Mathias. “She is incredibly devoted to her clients, team and the social issues we work so hard to address, whether it be women’s health, cardiovascular disease, cancer, vaccines, disaster and emergency preparedness, osteoporosis or violence prevention. She is a trusted advisor to our clients and respected leader among colleagues and I am delighted to see her in this role.”

Wayman started her career as an intern with Ogilvy PR in 1990, as the Social Marketing practice was just beginning. Since 2003, she has been serving as the leader of the Social Marketing group in the agency’s Washington, DC office, overseeing a team of 60 and such clients as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; the Department of Health and Human Services; the National Institutes of Health, including the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute's award-winning women’s heart health initiative, The Heart Truth®; and many more.

Her leadership has helped establish the agency as a recognized industry leader in behavior change communications. Born out of the agency’s Washington, DC office, Ogilvy’s Social Marketing practice is best known for translating research-based insights into creative campaigns that capture attention, frame agendas and make a real difference in sparking positive changes in awareness, education, and behavior. The practice has been led by Global Managing Director Tom Beall who will be retiring in December 2013.

Wayman, a founding member of the International Social Marketing Association and a member of the Social Marketing Quarterly Editorial Board, is a frequent university lecturer, contributor to social marketing literature, blogger (smexchange.ogilvypr.com), and speaks regularly on marketing behavior change at international and national conferences. She was named the 2007 Washington PR Woman of the Year by Washington Women in Public Relations.
